DHL (owned by the German Post Office) has shown my "premium service" package coming to LA from Germany as being in flight to the USA for the last 8 days - a world's record. DHL and Deutsche Post have no record of handing the package over to US Customs or the US Post Office, and neither US Customs nor the US Post Office has any record of receiving the package.

All of this for a shipping cost of about $650.00 - paid in advance, and just try to get a refund. Don't even think of filing an insurance claim. DHL's telephone "help" people are completely uninformed and unhelpful. The German post office is worse.

Use these folks at your peril.

For some reason (chauvanism?) German shippers prefer to use them, but don't let this happen. After 6 days of questioning this 8 day airflight I've still not received a single email response from DHL, and no one can tell me where the package is or if it will ever be delivered.

It's not "chauvanism". It's nationalism. Germans use them because of nationalism that still exists here, plain and simple, and accept their substandard service because it employs germans.
