I live in Canada. I ordered a pair of shoes for $400 to be shipped from the UK.
I understand I have to pay duties and taxes on the goods. I even talked to a customs agent: 18% Federal and 5% provincial (or reverse). That should equal about $95. Fine.
But the problem is, I got overcharged around 50 dollars! They somehow charged me tax for paying my duties! I got $25 extra on top of my new duties total. IN addition, I got charged an extra $25 for paying for the duties and gst.
This makes no sense! I'm getting taxed on paying for taxes?
Also, does anyone know where I can contact DHL regarding these invoices?
I tried their phone lines but there is no recipient option, only sending. Will never use this company again, but I would like to recoup the $50 being charged for no reason.
